A landscape can do more than show us where we are. It can invite us to pause, notice something unexpected and feel connected to a place. Parkland County photographer Theresa Muth captures that sense of discovery through images that celebrate both sweeping scenery and the quieter details along the way.

Her portfolio moves from mountain lakes and forest trails to vivid northern lights, wildlife encounters and abandoned buildings. Drawn to road trips with her camera, Theresa explores the changing light, textures and stories of her surroundings. Her fascination with abandoned structures brings another dimension to her work, finding beauty in weathered surfaces and the mystery of what remains.

Her photography has appeared in publications including Business in Edmonton, BC Nature and Your Parkland County, as well as Moments in Focus, a retrospective celebrating a decade of the InFocus Photo Exhibit. This range reflects a practice spanning natural landscapes, community life, and commercial storytelling.

For those looking to bring her photography into their own surroundings, Theresa offers prints, customized printing and framing, and framed photo rentals- ways to bring a favourite landscape or memorable view into a home or workspace.

That ability to connect people with places through photography makes Theresa a natural part of Rocky Mountain Art Tour.

A Natural Connection to RMAT

Theresa was selected as
Rocky Mountain Art Tour’s
first Founding Artist because her photography reflects the tour’s connection between art and place. Her landscape work lets viewers experience a destination through an artist’s eyes, building appreciation for both the scenery and the creative perspective behind the image.

Theresa Muth – Photographer

RMAT is a carefully curated, self-guided art and cultural discovery experience across Alberta and British Columbia. An initiative of LJL Galleries and Lisa Levasseur, it brings together curated artists, galleries, studios and cultural destinations through regional Creative Corridors.

At its heart is the idea that art can deepen our experience of a region. A photograph may inspire someone to visit a landscape, while a visit may give them a new appreciation for the artwork it inspired. Theresa’s work embodies that relationship, making her a fitting part of the tour.

As an RMAT Ambassador, she also helps shape the Stony Plain Creative Corridor, contributing her perspective and involvement as we build connections between artists, communities, and visitors.

Bringing Art Into the Visitor Experience

Through RMAT’s partnership with INNhotels, these connections extend into the places where travellers stay. Artist features, shared marketing and developing digital displays create opportunities for guests to discover artists such as Theresa and explore the creative experiences around them.

It’s a connection that brings together the artist, the destination and the visitor: discovering a photograph, learning the story behind it and finding a reason to explore further.

Creating Memories in Stony Plain

Theresa’s upcoming Santa photography event at Stony Plain Inn & Suites(part of the INNhotels family) brings that connection into a local community setting.

While her landscape photography captures a place’s character, her family and event photography captures the people and moments that make it meaningful. The Santa event gives families a chance to experience her work firsthand and create their own keepsake.

Together, Theresa’s photography, her involvement in RMAT, and her connection with INNhotels reflect what the tour aims to build: meaningful encounters with artists and the places that inspire them.
