Artist Submissions

LJL Galleries welcomes submissions from artists demonstrating a cohesive body of work and professional practice.

Submission Guidelines

LJL Galleries accepts artist submissions on an ongoing basis. Submissions are reviewed periodically and considered in relation to the gallery's curatorial direction, exhibition planning, and broader programming initiatives.

Submitting your work allows the gallery to become familiar with your artistic practice and assess potential alignment with upcoming opportunities within the LJL Galleries ecosystem, including curated exhibitions and, where appropriate, regional initiatives through Rocky Mountain Art Tour (RMAT).

LJL Galleries welcomes submissions from artists who demonstrate:

  • A cohesive and resolved body of work
  • Professional presentation and artistic practice
  • Alignment with the gallery’s curatorial focus

Artists at various stages of their careers may be considered.

Submissions are evaluated using the following general criteria.

Curatorial Alignment

  • Clear artistic direction and point of view
  • Conceptual clarity and consistency across the work
  • Intentionality in materials, process, and presentation

Technical & Professional Standards

  • Strong technical execution appropriate to the medium
  • High-quality documentation of work
  • Accurate and complete artwork details

Professional Readiness

  • Evidence of ongoing artistic development
  • Exhibition history or professional context where applicable
  • Readiness for exhibition or inclusion in gallery programming

Artists who submit their work may be considered for a range of current and developing initiatives connected to LJL Galleries, including:

  • Exhibitions and curated presentations at LJL Galleries
  • Curated Spaces, placing artwork within professional and hospitality environments
  • Rocky Mountain Art Tour (RMAT) regional initiatives
  • Special exhibitions and collaborative projects such as Heavy Metal Place
  • Future initiatives including digital art displays at participating partner locations

Not all submissions result in immediate engagement; however, submissions allow the gallery to build awareness of artists whose work aligns with its curatorial direction.

Artists should be prepared to submit the following:

  • Artist statement
  • CV or exhibition history
  • High-quality images of recent work
  • Medium, dimensions, and pricing information

Links to websites or online portfolios may be included where applicable.

All submissions are reviewed on a curated basis.

Artists whose work aligns with the gallery's direction may be contacted and invited to proceed further within the LJL Galleries onboarding and presentation process.

Participation remains selective and curatorially driven.

  • Submission does not guarantee exhibition, representation, promotion, or sales.
  • Artists selected through the curatorial review process may be invited into the LJL Galleries onboarding system.
  • Accepted artist onboarding includes professional administrative setup, file handling, website/profile integration, organizational formatting, and gallery preparation designed to properly position artists within the evolving LJL Galleries ecosystem.

Beginning at:

$195 CAD

This fee applies only after curatorial acceptance and supports the professional onboarding, file handling, administrative organization, and integration required to prepare artists for participation within the LJL Galleries ecosystem.

Accepted artist onboarding may include:

  • professional file and artwork organization;
